Cats. Oh why.

Cats. Oh why.

I hope to have a new chapter ½ up soon, but right now I have a cat, Mr. Kai, in emergency surgery and overnight observation, and it looks to be touch and go with him for the next 24 hours.  I’ve had to make a  lot of unfamiliar, expensive and scary decisions today.  All that has thrown my schedule off severely. I am having the worst year for cats. For those who have been asking, Nuncie is still missing. As for Mr. Kai, an infection gave way to complications and a blockage that nearly led to kidney failure, and still might. The poor little guy is only three years old, so we did not see this coming. His sister Harana is fine and claws up my legs until I play fetch with her.  And that’s the cat health update, sorry. Story update soon, I swear. Also that paperback people have been waiting for.

Germhacht Cover Art

Here’s the art for the cover of The Germhacht episode! I’m meeting with my editor and layout team tomorrow and I should have word soon on a publishing date. I’ll be making a gallery of originals for my kickstarter backers to choose from soon.

There’s no new chapter half yet, as you will have noticed. I appear to have the cold that never ends. However, as from here through halfway through December I have no more conventions to attend, trains to catch or airports to sleep in, my health will probably improve. I’ll be sleeping regularly again, which will no doubt help things. In related news, thanks to everybody who stopped by my table at AnimeUSA! It was lovely to meet you.

We’re approaching the end of the Tembeleka Voyage, and I want to make sure I get it all right, without rushing things and spoiling them. I hope to have an update for you later in the week.  Maybe I can arrange a happy Thanksgiving surprise.

Sorry to make you all wait. I hope I can make it all worth it when it comes.

Good News and Blegh News

Good News and Blegh News

The Germhacht episode is now fully edited and good to go to the layout guy. Two weeks after that it should head to the printers! Thank you so so much to everyone who backed the project! I hope to get rewards in the works as fast as I can.

The Blegh news is that I came down really sick upon returning from Youmacon and instead of getting better over the last few days, I’ve gotten worse. I am a bleary cold-medicated mess incapable of driving, picking out groceries or typing sentences out correctly without a lot of work.  There will not be a chapter installment tomorrow, because in my state, what I am producing could make you feel as disoriented and confused as I am.

I wish I had the Blackfeather family disease resistance about now. Blurgh.

The Kickstarter is funded! Book 2 is going to print!

The Kickstarter is funded! Book 2 is going to print!

Thanks to some truly amazing generosity, Book 2, The Germhacht Episode, is officially going to print! There are still two days left on the kickstarter, and extra funds put into that are far from meaningless. Should the miraculous double funding occur, there shall be audiobooks, and even if that goal doesn’t remotely occur, having the funds for shipping rewards to backers, covering proof correction fees and shipping costs on getting the books in is really great.

Thank you so much to everybody who has helped make this possible! I am more grateful than I can express to all of you. Look for updates on incoming rewards in the next two weeks. PDFs and info on available originals should be coming out as soon as I’ve recovered from glee and having just driven home 17 hours from Detroit back to Oklahoma. For now, enjoy this weeks chapter, posted below!

Seven Days

Seven Days

I have just seven days left to raise what I need to print Book Two, The Germhacht Episode, in paperback, and right now we’re still a long way from our goal. If you love last minute rescues and pulse pounding finales, this is looking to be one.  If you like the stories and have even $5 and an Amazon account (free to get one!) please consider donating. There are lots of nifty extras. Also, I posted the Blooper Reel from the kickstarter video shoot under backer updates, so go check that out! Here’s the Kickstater page.  The way kickstarter works is, if the funding goal is not met, no payments go through. It’s an all or nothing proposal, and all the money, if raised will be used to cover the kickstarter  and amazon fees (approx. 10% of the funding total) and the cost of the print run (the other 90%).

To make things more fun, I’m also posting extras and taking questions about characters, stories and process over on my tumblr page for the whole week.

I want to keep the stories coming, and keep them free. Now is a great time to help me make that possible, and also the only way yet to get your hands on a paperback of The Germhacht Episode.

Please consider becoming a backer!

Thanks to everybody who came by at New York ComicCon!

The new installment will be posted this afternoon. To read the series from the beginning, click above. Book One is The Alarna Affair, and Book Two is The Germhacht Episode.

The Kickstarter Campaign to get The Germhacht Episode printed can be found here.

There are 23 more days to help make that happen and get neat stuff for pledging.  After NYCC there are a few less original drawings available, so pledge now to reserve your favorite one before someone else does.

Check back in late this afternoon for the latest post in the Tembelaka Voyage.

The kickstarter to print The Germhacht Episode is live!   Click to make it happen!

Even really tiny donations will make a print run possible.  There are all sorts of nifty rewards up there, so please check it out.

We made the video ourselves this afternoon, and I think I may post the outtakes close to the end of the 30 day kickstarter campaign. There was a lot more in outtakes than in useable content.

I’ll be at New York Comic Con, in the Artist’s Alley this weekend, in booth 06. Please do stop by and say hello! I’d love to meet more of you.

Bwa ha hAAA!

Bwa ha hAAA!

So despite the website server getting hacked (what did I ever do to you, Bangledeshi  hackers?) and my laptop dying, and having a generally difficult week, the most recent chapter is up! Woo! And the second half is ready too, for next week, so even though I’ll be away at Anime Weekend Atlanta next weekend (come say hi!) that week’s installment will be on time too. Maybe I’ll even build my buffer back a little. Madness. I’m also working on the cover for Germhacht, and am planning a kickstarter campaign to help defray publishing costs. Are there any particular Kickstarter rewards you would like to see offered? Want to have a chance to name a character, or even create one? Just want books? Custom art? An original? T-shirts? Now is the time to suggest stuff you’ve always wanted. So go read the chapter half below and think it over. I’ll be over here painting.

Running late

Running late

Just wrote and threw out about 12 pages of the second half of the chapter. Really it should be closer to 5.  Djaren talks too much, and is trying to tell me the history of everything and ever. Its interesting, and took up most of my day to document, but is not what the chapter should be about. I hope to have a more manageable installment late on Tuesday when I can get a headlock on the skinny hyperactive historian and get him back on task.
