A new story starts right now!

So there’s the end to The Cambriol Riddle, which was supposed to be a short story between two books. Hmm.

Jessica will be posting part 1 of something much more short-story-like tonight.  She’ll start us off back in Shandor with Tam.  If you’ve been reading along since the Tembelaka Voyage, you’ll remember that something’s up with him.

So without further interruption, here’s the new story.

A visitor came to the Herringbroke boys’ home by carriage with a large trunk of books. He had dark blond hair, now silvering, and fine features. One or two young ladies from the school down the street paused to admire his profile while he waited at the door. Kara was dimly aware of being carried over a shoulder. Past the crook of a swinging arm she could see Seilu being dragged along by the same man who’d hit him with the blackjack. She felt so angry at herself for letting the fellow with the club get the jump on her while she was kicking his comrade that she half forgot to be worried about Seilu.
